AlDente Charge Limit No Longer Works on Apple Sillicon (macOS 15.5, SMC Firmware Issue)

I’m using an M2 MacBook Air running macOS 15.5 (24F74) with AlDente 1.33.1 (free version)
• The charge limit is completely ignored, battery continues charging to 100%.
• Helper is installed and running (verified via launchctl), System Settings are configured correctly.
• AlDente used to work perfectly on earlier versions of macOS 15.5 on the same machine.

After the recent update to macOS Tahoe, it stopped working entirely even after reinstalling the helper, resetting PRAM/NVRAM, and disabling macOS Optimized Battery Charging.

Other users report similar behavior, possibly due to a silent SMC firmware update that persists across OS downgrades.

Please confirm if this is a known issue with newer M2 machines and updated firmware, and if a fix is planned.

Please review the following issue, which summarizes the entire situation. In short, you need to downgrade the firmware of your MacBook to be able to run AlDente again. We managed to get AlDente working on the current beta of macOS 26 Tahoe, and working on an update. However, due to the final release being months away and not knowing how much will still change, we are not able to share when an AlDente update will be released.

Apologies for the confusion of my current firmware. I started noticing this issue after I downgraded my MacBook to macOS 15.5, as of now, I’m switched and sticking to the non beta latest Mac OS software. I’m currently still at the latest update for aldente (1.33.1) and i still have this issue. The MacBook was reset and restored via the internet restore on the boot up screen to get when you continue holding the power button.

I am also having the same issue, I am on m2 air 15 inch macOS 15.5

It is not just M2 facing issues, I am also having the same issue, I am on macbook pro 16-inch with M1 pro chip on macOS 15.5 which is also downgrade from macOS Tahoe.
