I was again foiled by the fact that
item.id != itemID. Hopefully this should resolve the issue. I managed to reproduce the duplicates locally by spamming submit requests before they are done. Theitem.idin this scenario is the id of the response (i.e. score) so deduplicating it doesn't make sense because it's unique.
