[Driver] Automatic download and installation

Hi everyone,
I'm a noob — if my question looks stupid, maybe it's because the question is.
Maybe you know that thing where, when you use a Logitech device, a driver is automatically provided by WU based on the VID & PID (VID&02046D_PID&B023).

This driver sounds to me like a Trojan horse — disable it, and Options+ doesn't recognize any Logitech devices anymore (but the real device itself is still properly recognized — like my question: when something looks like something, maybe it's because it is).

Does OpenLogi still work with this driver disabled? Better yet, is there something that hooks the kernel, or something else, to prevent this f*cking driver from being automatically deployed at the kernel level — a driver whose only role, indeed, is to download (yes, I'm crying right now — what kind of psychopath builds a legacy driver to download and deploy things at the kernel level? Plug in a Logitech device; root your own device; you're welcome — I'm just looking for a mouuuuuussssseeeeee).

In C:\Windows\System32, there is a file named “LogiLDA.DLL.” This file is created by Logitech and apparently causes the Logitech Download Assistant to be automatically downloaded again and again via Windows Update.

If you completely remove the Assistant and then also delete the “LogiLDA.DLL” file, which remains even after uninstalling Logitech products, the Logitech Download Assistant will no longer be downloaded.

This only applies to the Download Assistant; Windows Update continues to download the Logitech Extension Driver 2.0.998.0 and Logitech HIDCLASS 1.10.80.0; I haven’t found a solution for that yet. These two files are unnecessary when using OpenLogi, but they don’t seem to cause any problems either. When I remove these two drivers, they are downloaded again and again, though the system apparently doesn’t use them.

Edit next day:
Unfortunately, Windows has recreated the “LogiLDA.DLL” file again; this behavior is unacceptable! Because of this, the Logitech Download Assistant has been downloaded again via Windows Update.

My second attempt is: I’ve created a read-only dummy file. Let’s see how Windows reacts to it. I can still try adjusting the permissions so that Windows has no access to it at all, if Windows try to recreate “LogiLDA.DLL,” this dummy file will already be in place. This might prevent the Logitech Download Assistant from being downloaded.
