User guide
Firstly, you will have to download the .APK file to your smartphone / android device. Save it to a location that you can navigate to with ease later on. Once you have downloaded the .APK file, simply run it by opening it. A prompt should appear to “install from unknown sources” (depending on your phone brand). Simply click “Ok”, “Install” and proceed with the installation. If this does not work, navigate to your phone settings, search for “unknown sources” and click “allow”. Afterwards, try installing the game again.
Once you have installed the game, the app should appear on your home screen, or “apps” menu. Simply navigate to where the app is installed, and click on it. The app should be named “Monkey Simulator”, and it will have the image below in the app icon.
Upon launching the app, you will be greeted with a Main Menu screen, which includes a title screen, background, and 5 different buttons in total to choose from. The “help” button takes you to the help scene, the “credits” button will take you to the credits scene, the “highscores” button will take you to the highscores scene and the “quit” button will exit out of the game. The final button is the “play” button, which takes you to the game.
Click the play button, which is located on the main menu screen. This will take you to the “game” scene. Be careful as bananas will begin falling from the sky almost immediately! Use the left and right buttons to move the monkey, and catch the falling bananas. For every banana catch, you gain points, which are displayed in the top left of the screen under “Score:”. However, if the banana touches the ground, you will lose a life! Lose 3 lives and the game will end. You may use the “pause” button to pause the game, and the “back” button to go back to the main menu. Your score will be saved.
To access the built-in help facility, simply navigate to the main menu, and click on the “help” button which is located at the bottom left of the screen. You will be greeted with a fresh scene, and a few instructions on how to play the game. Once you’re done reading, click the “back” button to go back to the main menu!
To reset the program, you can either leave the app on your phone and then kill its process by swiping up, or you can navigate to the main menu screen, and click the “Quit” button. You will be greeted with a farewell screen, then the program will exit. After this, you can simply relaunch the app by navigating to where it is located, then simply clicking on it.
The process of exiting the program is quite similar to “resetting” it, as we discussed in the previous section. You can simply tap the home button on your phone to exit the app, or you can navigate to the game’s main menu, and click on the “quit” button. You’ll be greeted with a farewell screen, and the program will promptly stop soon after. The app will close and you will have exited the program!
