So basically, /r d100 < 44 .... if I rolled a 11 that would be 40-10 or 4-1=3 "3 successes" and b/c its a double it's a CRIT. If I rolled 68 it's a failure, 4-6=-2 "2 failures". 96-100 auto fail. 01-05 auto success.
