How well does Recall run on your Mac?

I've tested Recall on my 14-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro, 16 GB), and I'd love to see how it runs across other Apple Silicon Macs! If you've played a few matches, please reply below with your results. If your response could follow the this template, that would be great :)

A few tips:

• To compare results with others, try custom game 929PJ, created by u/Working_Dealer_5102. It moves through each map using every hero's abilities, and it's the scene I used for my benchmarks.
• Overwatch's built-in performance stats show your FPS while you play.
• Your first match or two can have a few hitches while Recall prepares the game's shaders. It remembers them, so stutter fades the more you play. Results after a few matches are the most useful.

Overwatch settings:
Dynamic Render Scale: OFF
Render Scale: CUSTOM (100)
Frame Rate: CUSTOM (121)
VSYNC: OFF
Graphics Quality: LOW (to maximize FPS & reduce visual clutter)

Where you played:
Practice Range (stutters) > Quick Play (stutters) > custom game 929PJ > Competitive and more (no more stutters!). I also experienced no stutters on any first games after new launching an Overwatch sessions (nice surprise, since IIRC CrossOver stuttered a bit the first couple games every time I re-launched the game)

Average FPS and lowest dips you noticed:
929PJ: averaged ~75 FPS, lowest dip 50 FPS
in-game (just glancing from time-to-time): averaged ~75 FPS, lowest dip 40 FPS

How it felt to play:
After the game loaded shades from an initial match & the 929PJ custom game, everything felt perfect! I’m specifically thinking of the gameplay FPS, mouse responsiveness, graphics, etc.

Compared with CrossOver (optional):
It’s been a couple years since I played on my Mac via CrossOver (I stopped playing/trying when a CrossOver update broke compatability with Overwatch back in ~October 2024). But regardless, Recall’s performance seems better in comparison IIRC? I’ve also played on GeForce NOW and the performance of Overwatch on Recall seems comparable/better than their highest priced tier subscription.

Anything that didn't work:
The game launches at 3840×2160 in 16:9, which is expected since those are the values I configured in the Recall app’s Settings menu. However, when I change the in-game resolution to 5120×2160, the gameplay window shrinks and black bars appear on all four sides (left, right, top, and bottom). I’ve been able to fix this by toggling the resolution/aspect-ratio settings back and forth a few times. Most recently, the following sequence restored the correct full-widescreen display: 3840×2160 (16:9) → 3840×2160 (21:9) → 5120×2160 (21:9)

This is awesome data, thank you Ryan! I'm glad to see that overall the performance seemed to smooth out once the shaders loaded in.

To the resolution issue, there is a weird quirk with the existing version of Recall that I am going to investigate for the new release where there are issues with setting the specific in-game resolution in Overwatch where as you experienced, changing the resolution doesn't always apply or creates weird artifacts. The primary solution for this currently is to make sure you apply desired resolution setting in the Recall app which right now seems understandably hidden and a little cumbersome. It's a bit of a roundabout solution, but I'm gonna do some more investigating on this and either try and find a way to (a) get the Overwatch resolution setting to apply correctly in-game, and/or (b) make it more explicit and easier in Recall to understand that that is where you should adjust the screen resolution.

Hey @RyanSchrader ! Good news, I fixed the screen resolution issues! I have bundled it in a v1.1 that i hope to put out by EOD, i'll let you know when it is out to test. Just doing some quick QA before release

I just updated to v1.1 and yup everything looks good! My ultrawide resolution is getting saved and comes up correctly without needing any adjustments upon launching 😄
