I have no idea what this means to me honestly. We are so far from being that standard. Linus wrote git in 2 weeks because BitKeeper revoked their free license and he was angry. Junio Hamano has maintained it every single day for 18+ years. Elijah Newren rewrote the entire merge engine (ort) basically by himself, making it orders of magnitude faster. Shawn Pearce built JGit and Gerrit, and he's not even with us anymore. These people wrote all of this with no LLMs, no Claude-Code, no AI. Just raw engineering across decades. The fact that git works at all on every codebase on earth, in every language, with no parsers, no tree-sitter, nothing language-specific, is kind of insane when you think about it, I feel so small infront of these legendary people, just a kid trying to be ambitious. There's seriously no comparison. Well I will try my best until I bleed out to reach that level. |

Git is open source, if this is better in every way, why not propose and make this the default in git for merging?
