WP-Admin Tools > Import: WPcom Importer banner prompts for non-WP sites, obscuring our built-in Migration Flow #101616

Description

@cuemarie

Context and steps to reproduce

On an existing Atomic site, accessing the Migration Flow is obscured, because we only list non-wp hosts in the WordPress.com Importer banner, while the core WordPress Importer tool only directs to an XML import.

  1. Open an existing Atomic site
  2. Navigate to Tools > Import
  3. Thinking like a customer, look for "WordPress" on the screen to get started migrating a WordPress site.

What other impact(s) does this issue have?

Platform revenue

If a workaround is available, please outline it here.

I think it's really just an issue of this text:

Use WordPress.com's guided importer to import posts and comments from Medium, Substack, Squarespace, Wix, and more.

Clicking "Get Started" there takes me to https://wordpress.com/setup/hosted-site-migration/site-migration-import-or-migrate which starts with choosing to import content or a full WP site.

Recommendation: we could do a better job of highlighting that as the primary/best option on the page for anyone with a WordPress site they want to migrate in.
