Elephant Features

I have been using walker for while for my launcher and have been pretty happy with how easy it's backend makes it to extend.

Personally I have enough reason to simply use the dms launcher for most things now, but I still wonder if there isn't anything in particular to learn from the backend elephant. It is written in go so maybe dank could just directly use some of it's code.

Hi there, DMS uses Go + QML, Walker is built with Rust so there isn't really anything to borrow there. Ours is pretty feature rich as-is especially with DMS v1.5 due out tomorrow. There are lots of changes and additions.

If you're able to come with with some specifics feature wise you may be missing from one to the other, we're happy to gain feedback.

Only the front-end client is written in rust the backend that is used is this one https://github.com/abenz1267/elephant, and it's written in Go. I just wanted to drop it here and don't expect any action. Otherwise, I'd have written an issue or PR.

We currently have no reason to use any of their code when ours is already feature rich and you're failing to provide a reason or feature missing at all;)

I really hope my intentions don't get misunderstood here. I wasn't trying to demand anything nor was I trying to provide any reasons for anything.

I was searching in the discussion about this topic didn't find anything and opened my own to get notified in case someone knows more.

I know walker "feels" faster. I don't know why because I haven't read the code of either. When I ever find the time and curiosity to figure out why I will probably also know enough about it to fix it. Then this discussion becomes pointless.
