FAQ EN
Quick answers to the most common questions.
No. Normal operation should not require admin rights. Only toggling Audio Enhancements asks for a one-time UAC elevation.
Yes. The LIGHTSPEED dongle can stay plugged in. The signal is based on the physical headset state, not the USB connection.
It depends on the DetectionMode chosen at install:
-
WindowsEndpoint (universal) — reads the headset's endpoint
Statein Windows (Activewhen on,Unplugged/absent when off). No vendor software needed. -
LogitechGHub (PRO X 2) — queries the device battery state in G HUB (
GET /battery/<deviceId>/state): on → returns apayload, off → doesn't.
It works with any headset whose connection state Windows exposes (e.g. Jabra Evolve 65, verified Active ↔ Unplugged). For headsets Windows cannot see physically (like the PRO X 2), a device-specific provider is needed (G HUB today).
Two consecutive OFF readings are required (~3 seconds) before switching to the alternative output, to avoid flapping on a one-off reading.
No. The installer captures exactly two outputs: headset and alternative.
See info lines (Headset / Fallback / Next switch), pause/resume AutoSwitch (AutoSwitch: Enabled/Disabled), reconfigure the headset/fallback without reinstalling, disable/enable the headset's Audio Enhancements (UAC), and Exit.
The WebSocket API is unofficial and Logitech can change it. Check AGENT.md in the repo to rebuild the mechanism and open an issue.
At %LOCALAPPDATA%\PROX2AutoSwitch\autoswitch.log.
Yes. The installer stops the previous instance, re-captures the current Item IDs and replaces the configuration. It also skips re-downloading svcl.exe if it is already installed.
