TrustID — Identity for Everyone

Identity for the invisible — self-sovereign, decentralised, and owned by you.

Live Demo Hackathon Track Theme

🌍 The Problem

1.1 billion people worldwide have no legal identity.

This locks them out of banking, healthcare, employment, and the digital economy. The problem spans three underserved groups:

  • Refugees & stateless people — fleeing conflict with no documents and no legal standing
  • Informal & gig workers — skilled professionals with no verifiable record
  • Citizens of developing nations — excluded from digital infrastructure entirely

Both sectors share the same wound: no verifiable reputation, no payment security, no visibility.

💡 The Solution

TrustID is a self-sovereign identity platform where individuals own, control, and selectively share verifiable credentials — stored on decentralised infrastructure, accessible from anywhere, owned by no one but the user.

  • No email. No government ID. No central authority.
  • 🔒 Credentials encrypted by Lit Protocol — you control who sees what
  • 📦 Stored permanently on Storacha — censorship-resistant and tamper-proof
  • 🔑 Wallet-based onboarding — your crypto wallet is your identity anchor

🖥️ Live Prototype

👉 View the interactive prototype

The prototype includes 7 fully clickable screens:

Screen Description
01 — Welcome Landing page with value proposition
02 — Connect Wallet Onboard with MetaMask, WalletConnect, or Coinbase
03 — Create Profile One-time setup, no forms
04 — Dashboard Credential hub with activity feed
05 — Add Credential Upload, encrypt, and store to Storacha
06 — Share Access Grant & revoke via Lit Protocol
07 — Verifier View What a third party sees (selective disclosure)

⚙️ How It Works

User connects wallet
        ↓
Uploads credential (PDF / image / document)
        ↓
Lit Protocol encrypts the file
        ↓
Storacha stores it permanently (content-addressed)
        ↓
User grants access to a specific wallet address
        ↓
Verifier decrypts only what was shared — nothing more

🛠️ Tech Stack

Layer Technology Role
Storage Storacha Decentralised, permanent credential storage
Encryption Lit Protocol Threshold cryptography & access control
Identity Web3 Wallet Entry point — no email or ID required
Frontend HTML / CSS / JS Interactive prototype

🎯 Sponsor Bounties

  • 🟢 Storacha — All credential files and records stored on Storacha's decentralised network. Content-addressed, immutable, censorship-resistant.
  • 🔵 Lit Protocol — Every credential encrypted with Lit's threshold cryptography. Access conditions tied to wallet address — users grant and revoke access without exposing raw data.

📊 Impact

Metric Value
People without legal identity 1.1 billion
Adults in Sub-Saharan Africa lacking formal ID 470M+
Economic value locked by identity gaps $380B
Central authorities in TrustID 0

TrustID is built with a single belief: identity is a human right, not a privilege.

About

Decentralized Identity for the Undocumented Millions of people (refugees, informal workers, stateless individuals) have no verifiable identity, locking them out of banking, healthcare, and work. TrustID is a design concept + research paper for a self-sovereign identity system where users own their credentials.
