The help message of --scope implies management group scope is supported:

> az role assignment list --help
...
    --scope                     : Scope at which the role assignment or definition applies to, e.g.,
                                  /subscriptions/0b1f6471-1bf0-4dda-aec3-111122223333,
                                  /subscriptions/0b1f6471-1bf0-4dda-
                                  aec3-111122223333/resourceGroups/myGroup, or
                                  /subscriptions/0b1f6471-1bf0-4dda-aec3-
                                  111122223333/resourceGroups/myGroup/providers/Microsoft.Compute/vi
                                  rtualMachines/myVM.

/providers/Microsoft.Management/managementGroups/marketing-group is just a scope like /subscriptions/0b1f6471-1bf0-4dda-aec3-111122223333.

But, including examples for management group will definitely be better.
