Open OnDemand users can access Linux or Windows desktops through a web browser without needing to install any client software. However, if you want to connect directly from your local computer using VNC or RDP, you'll need to install the oodproxy client from this repo. Direct connections via VNC and RDP can be better performance for graphic intensive applications.
Your institution will need to install and configure an oodproxy server and the associated spank plugins on the nodes in order to enable the client to work. See the oodproxy project for more information.
Installing the oodproxy server and client allows users to use the RDP and TigerVNC buttons on their Open OnDemand jobs for direct access as highlighted below in red.
