SigmaCV v0.2.0 — a large update to the free, open-source academic-CV generator (https://sigmacv.org). Your CV is still built from the public research record by identifier (ORCID / OpenAlex, never by name), with one canonical object driving every output.

Highlights

Your living public page

  • Many new page styles — credible, field-tuned looks (Folio, Meridian, Trajectory, Lumina, Posology, Pharmacopoeia, Codex, Ledger, Atelier, Hanko, Chronicle) and richly-animated ones (Arcade, Meadow, Cyberpunk, Clockwork, and the nine showcase styles) — all CSS-only under a strict no-JS policy, and never affecting your exports.
  • An optional Σ mascot that travels the page and changes its hat to match the section you're reading.
  • Cite any work in one click (BibTeX / RIS / CSL-JSON), an RSS/Atom feed, Zotero import (COinS), inline abstracts + open-access full-text links, research-area chips, "Selected publications" pins, and year / type / open-access filters.
  • Per-work schema.org JSON-LD, ORCID-matched co-author knows links, PubMed links, a "Living CV" badge, and deep-linkable section headings.

Trust & accuracy

  • We now flag publications that may not be yours — conservative and identifier-based (never any name/origin inference) — with a calm "Review" cue and one-click confirmation.
  • A new Terms of Use, an "Our promises" trust statement, and clearer consent at sign-in and at publish.

Editor

  • Auto-save, bulk curation, a "needs your attention" checklist, opt-in re-sync digest emails, JSON Resume import, and private notes.
  • True WYSIWYG: the preview now matches the PDF exactly (bundled fonts), plus US Letter, a font-size control, manual page breaks, and a side-by-side / stacked preview toggle.
  • Two-line Positions / Education with editable role, institution and dates.

Open science / FAIR

  • RO-Crate export, an OAI-PMH endpoint, FAIR Signposting, a published canonical JSON Schema, an RRID, in-depth guides + glossary, tagged (accessible) PDFs, and signed releases with a CycloneDX SBOM.

SigmaCV is live at https://sigmacv.org 🎉

SigmaCV is a free, open-source tool that auto-generates clean, customizable academic CVs from the public research record — no manual data entry. Sign in with your ORCID iD and your CV is built for you; then curate it, style it, and export or publish.

Highlights

  • Identifier-based matching — finds your work by ORCID / OpenAlex ID, never by name string, so far fewer wrong-person mix-ups.
  • One canonical CV → every format — PDF, Word (DOCX), LaTeX, Markdown, BibTeX, CSL-JSON, JSON Résumé, and an NIH biosketch, all from a single source of truth.
  • Consistent citations — one CSL engine means identical, correctly formatted references in every output.
  • 58 one-click CV layouts — funder / institution / industry templates (UKRI R4RI, Royal Society, SNSF, NIH, NSF, ERC, an ICH-GCP clinical-investigator CV, and more).
  • Living public page — optionally publish a CV that re-syncs from the open record and is machine-readable (JSON-LD).
  • 12 open data sources — OpenAlex, ORCID, Crossref, Open Editors Plus, DataCite, OpenAIRE, DBLP, national funders, and clinical-trial registries among them.
  • Responsible metrics — off by default and opt-in; prefers field-normalized indicators; never shows a journal Impact Factor.
  • 10 languages, with privacy-first design: per-field publish consent, data export, and account deletion.

Open & self-hostable

Apache-2.0 licensed and fully self-hostable — no lock-in to any hosted instance. Built as open infrastructure for responsible research assessment (DORA-aligned, FAIR).

First public release. "SigmaCV" is a working title (tied to the Sigma-Score bibliometric index) and may change.
