🏁 RC-VOLT: First Public Beta (v0.19.2)
📦 What is this?
RC-VOLT turns your M5Stack AtomS3 into a tiny, powerful computer for your RC car. It tracks:
Speed & G-Force (How fast you go / How hard you corner)
Battery Health (Voltage, Amps, and Fuel Remaining)
GPS Reliability (Proves your speed runs are real)
🛑 STEP 1: The Hardware Checklist
Do not plug anything in yet. Make sure you have these exact parts.
The Brain: M5Stack AtomS3 Lite (This is the "Master").
The Sensor: M5Stack AtomS3 or Atom Lite + GPS Unit (This is the "Slave").
The Cable: A 4-pin "Grove Cable" to connect them together.
The Wiring:
RC Throttle Signal -> Pin G5 on the AtomS3.
RC Steering Signal -> Pin G6 on the AtomS3.
Black Wire (Ground) -> You MUST connect the AtomS3 Ground (GND) to your Receiver's Ground (-).
💻 STEP 2: The Software Prep
You cannot skip this. The code will not compile without these tools.
Open your Arduino IDE and install these 5 Libraries (Sketch -> Include Library -> Manage Libraries):
M5Unified
Adafruit_NeoPixel
ArduinoJson
ESPAsyncWebServer
AsyncTCP
⚡ STEP 3: The "First Start" (CRITICAL!)
This is where 90% of people make a mistake. Follow this exactly.
Flash the Code: Upload M5AtomS3_Master.ino to your device.
Power On: The LED should turn Green (or Orange if looking for sensors).
Connect WiFi: On your phone, look for WiFi named RC-Telemetry-V0-19-Beta.
Password: telemetry123
NOTE: Your phone might say "No Internet Connection". This is normal! Select "Stay Connected".
Open Dashboard: Open your web browser and type: 192.168.4.1
👇 DO THIS IMMEDIATELY OR YOUR BATTERY WILL READ 0% 👇
Tap the "Battery Config" tab.
Find the "Cell Count" dropdown.
Select your battery (e.g., 2S for 7.4V, 3S for 11.1V, etc.).
Tap "Save Config".
If you see a green "Success" message, you are ready to drive!
❓ "Help! I broke it!" (Troubleshooting)
"The GPS LED is blinking Blue forever!"
Go Outside. GPS signals cannot go through your house roof. It acts like a shield. The first time you turn it on, it can take 5 minutes to find satellites. Be patient.
"My battery percentage is wrong!"
You skipped Step 3, part 7. Go back to the dashboard, select the correct Cell Count (2S/3S/4S), and click Save.
"I can't connect to the WiFi!"
Unplug the AtomS3, count to 5, and plug it back in. If your phone has "Auto-Switch to Mobile Data" on, turn it off.
"The LED is blinking Orange!"
The Master brain can't find the GPS sensor. Push the Grove cable connectors in harder until they click.
