Warning

Almost every model of phone has unique hardware and software to some degree. There's no guarantee Flywheel will work as expected on all of them.

This page details known system requirements and recommendations for running Flywheel on your phone.

If you encounter a device-specific issue that isn't mentioned here, please submit a bug report.

Android version

Currently, Flywheel works best on Android 10 and later.

Android 9 and earlier may encounter these issues:

  • No touch input
  • No audio capture

Software vendors

Flywheel has been tested to work on these vendor software versions (with or without fixes):

  • MIUI 11 (Android 8)
    • Set [App info > Battery saver] to "No restrictions" for Flywheel (and Shizuku if applicable)
    • If using Shizuku, enable [Developer options > USB Debugging (Security settings)]
  • Stock Google Pixel (Android 9, 10, 13, 16)
  • LineageOS 18, 21, 22, 23 (Android 11, 14, 15, 16)
  • GrapheneOS (Android 16)

Chipset vendors

Flywheel has been tested to work on chipsets from these vendors:

  • Qualcomm
  • Mediatek
  • Exynos

Privilege elevation

Flywheel currently requires privilege elevation in the form of either root (via a su binary) or ADB (via Shizuku). See the setup guide for more information.
