Amazing project.

I wonder if you have any idea of the battery life? There's quite a lot of batteries on it. It looks like there's a power connection between each of the boards, so perhaps they're not all necessary?

I am thinking about how I might be able to water/weather proof it. I have a Monkey Electric battery pack, which attaches nicely to the hub and is waterproof. It only takes three batteries though.

Sorry for the late reply :) I actually haven't tested the battery life from full to dead, but it easily survives several hours in my usage. Populating one of the boards with batteries should be enough, I just opted for this design for an extended runtime and more even weight distribution.

The Monkey Electric battery pack should be fine, if it is also 5 V. I personally haven't been able to fully water/weather proof it though, but you could try coating it in a weather resistant paint/epoxy or designing a watertight enclosure.
