Theme: "Here we go again"
Stranded on an alien planet in an abandoned space station one controlled by a corrupted quantum computer.
Each day ticks out the same: time resets, taking your progress with it. Hence the theme "Here we go again". But there is one thing the loop will never erase, your knowledge.
In this top-down pixel puzzle adventure, you've been assigned to decipher an incomprehensible alien language and repair the quantum system that keeps the station running. You'll start anew with each iteration—but a little wiser. With every puzzle solved, each word translated, each pattern discerned, you'll be closer to breaking the cycle.
To repair the station, you’ll solve a variety of challenges scattered throughout the sectors:
Pull levers and balance the current to reach the perfect voltage and unlock access to new areas.
Align the alien glyphs using a simple two-button interface to uncover keys and clues.
Switch to first-person mode, take up your raygun, and blast down meteorites before they can hit the base.
After learning sufficient alien language, descend into the mainframe and reorganize snippets of code to bring back rational balance to the system.
Along the way, you'll find that you have an assistive NPC who provides quests, advice, and hints although they won't be easy to interpret at first.
- Custom Translations: Your translation system becomes increasingly advanced as you progress. You can create your own definitions for alien words, and the game saves your interpretation, displaying your translations below every word when in a dialogue.
- Decipher the Unknown: Whether or not what you're translating is accurate is up to you—your brain makes understanding.
⚠️ Note: This game was made in 8 days for the Epic MegaJam by a tiny but passionate team.
We toiled around the clock, late nights, to bring an unique vision to life, one which was all about creativity, curiosity, and the joy of discovery.
Everything that you see here (besides the NPC mesh and a star texture), all the mesh, all the pixels, all the code, all the textures, were made from scratch without using plug and play plugins, AI tools, or borrowed assets.
- Music: Even the music was composed together with a family member.
- Typography: The font for the alien language was also made by hand. (P.S. some letters of the font actually have a meaning physics wise :))
We didn't get to do all we wanted to, and unfortunately is not a fully playable game yet, since there are words you can only guess, no hints. Yet we're happy with our little creation.
