Hi. Rotary encoders use 2 signal pins that go high and low in a sequence. Generally to read these pins reliably, a micontroller would need to have "interrupts" (a special high speed trigger that monitors for changes in hardware) so the signals are not missed as the encoder is turned. The SX1509 isn't really suitable for this as it is read in "polled" mode (reading it every 10 - 20 msec) and if the encoder was turned quickly it could miss the pulses and lose track of the steps. Best results would come from using 2 pins directly on the microcontroller and setting up edge triggered interrupts. |

Hello! I’m trying to add a few things to your perfect project. One idea that came to mind is to add an encoder to the SX1509 to adjust the FX parameter values, rather than creating a separate MIDI signal, and instead controlling the FX by adjusting the touch slide event values through the encoder. Does this idea have any potential?
