Software Startup Checklist

Startup

1. start up server in new terminal window -> python3 ~/server2020.py
2. start up surface client in new terminal window -> python3 ~/surface2020.py
3. ssh into motor pi -> ssh pi@192.168.1.4
4. start up motor client in the ssh session -> python3 ~/motor2020.py
5. ssh into camera pi in new terminal window -> ssh pi@192.168.1.3 password: raspberry
6. start up data collection in ssh session -> /var/www/scripts/dataCollection.sh start
7. open a browser (not chromium)
8. in a new tab go to 192.168.1.3/dataSheet.html
9. in a new tab go to 192.168.1.3/status.html
10. if 192.168.1.3/status.html does not display Status: Running, then do step 6 again

Troubleshooting

If steps 5 and 9 are a problem (i.e. the code is not running properly), check both the log files in /var/log/MATE/ and /var/www/scripts/nohub.out for errors. Startup errors tend to show in nohub.out, while runtime errors show up in logs in /var/log/MATE/.
Note: On Camera Pi, the pin that the temperature probe used to use has been damaged so w1 has been configured to use another pin.

Shutdown

1. ssh into camera pi in new terminal window -> ssh pi@192.168.1.3 password: raspberry
2. stop data collection in ssh session -> /var/www/scripts/dataCollection.sh stop
3. close the browser
4. press ^C (control-C) in the surface2020.py and motor2020 terminal windows
5. press ^C (control-C) in the server2020.py window
