Unable to continue with adventure quest

I recently started playing adventure mode and I ran across an issue with the Dig Site quest. I had already cleared the site before I received the quest to do so. I am now unable to complete the quest. Is there a way to reset the site or mark the quest as complete so I can move on? Additionally, something should be done to prevent this issue in the future, maybe not creating the site until the quest directs you there or just resetting it as soon as the quest is received. It probably wouldn't be an issue too often as it likely isn't common for someone to come across the site and clear it out before directed to by the quest as I did, but as I am proof that it happens.

You can abort quests in the "journal". It will come with a loss of reputation, but better than having it stuck there

Main quests cannot be aborted. Since this is a main quest, you can't just abort it and lose rep. the only way I found around this is to start a New Game +, which keeps your collection and most of your gear, and then replay the plot through to that point. You lose any rep you've gained thus far, though, so it's not great.

Thanks FluxNeven, I actually have spent most of my time doing draft events rather than quests so I won't be losing much rep, my main concern was losing the cards I had gathered but your solution will work just fine.
