Stockmarket Open/Closed Bell & Activate screen upon X db sound and remain on for Y Minutes

I bought a USB speaker and a USB microphone for my raspberry PI.
Do you think it would be a useful feature to :

1. Turn on the screen if a sound is heard on the microphone (sound would need to be researched as really want it to be alot of sound (configurable in the settings) so you know a person is in the room), then the screen stays on for Y minutes (Y is configurable).
2. At different times of the day ring a bell for the stockticker plugin i.e stockmarket open and stockmarket closed. Yes a gimmick but very fun for people that are obsessed with stocks like myself.
