Summit is an implementation of TextRank based summarization done as a minor project for my research proficiency exam. TextRank is used to compute an overall importance score on a per sentence basis. We then apply this calculated score for an extractive summarization technique in which sentences deemed important are extracted from the original text and output as a summarized text in their original order.
The text is first transformed into a weighted, undirected graph. The weight of any given edge is equal to the similarity measure of the pair of sentences and the importance of a node is considered to be proportional to the sum of the weights of all of its incident edges. Edges with weight below a predetermined threshold are dropped altogether.

These instructions will get you a copy of the project up and running on your local machine for development and testing purposes. See deployment for notes on how to deploy the project on a live system.
I have included a copy of my python environment in env.txt. The majority of the environment is probably not needed to run the application. Installing nltk, scipy, and numpy should get all of the necessary dependencies.
