libFBC

A library for applying flux balance constraint methods on SBML models. This code was developed within the scope of the BioPreDyn project.

Dependencies

This project uses (and distributes) LPsolve, a mixed integer linear programming solver published under the LGPL 2.0 license.

It requires libSBML to be installed with the FBC package (this means it has to be compiled, built and installed from source).

Installation

The library is built using CMake

Ubuntu 12.04 and later (32-bit and 64-bit)

Open a command prompt in the project checkout folder then type:

mkdir build
cd build
cmake ..
make
sudo make install
make test

Windows 7 (64-bit)

It requires Microsoft Visual Studio to be installed. After SBML is installed (with FBC package), add the bin, lib and include folders from the SBML install directory to the PATH environment variable. Open a Visual Studio command prompt in the project checkout folder and type:

mkdir build
cd build
cmake -G "NMake Makefiles" ..
nmake install
ctest

Python wrappers

They are activated by default; SWIG is required to build them. Once libFBC is installed, its API can be used in any Python script or shell after an import libfbc. On Linux, executing a ldconfig command might be required before using the wrappers. Wrappers can be de-activated by setting the CMake variable WITH_PYTHON to OFF.
