BetterVR 0.9.16: The "why isn't this 1.0" update!

Hey everyone,

This major update fixes many glitches you might've experienced due to one major feature: proper physics-based roomscale support!
Previously we changed the location of the visual model to imitate this support, but unless you were at the precise location where you had centered your VR headset at, you'll have felt some these limitations:

• Get stuck in geometry, start climbing unintentionally or won't climb at all.
• An enemy was aggravated at the wrong location, and was hitting air.
• Camera rotations were carousel-like.
• Trying to break line-of-sight with an enemy becomes really hard.
• Objects are thrown slightly less randomly.
• Cutscenes would teleport you or move the camera weirdly.
• Many other things probably...

It was quite hard to make it so that you don't glitch into the nearest mountain or wall while climbing, but you are still able to traverse the very dynamic and cluttered lands of Hyrule. And I think this version of roomscale support really delivers on that.

But that isn't everything:

• Add more resolution options, and show the exact resolution that your game will run at.
• Add recording mode that expands the VR FoV, and allows rendering at 16:9 resolutions.
• Improved performance slightly. The performance dips are things I still have to investigate further.
• Prevent enemies being able to launch you if you take heavy damage, to prevent nausea and breaking immersion (first-person-only).
• Fixed two issues that kept the .dll file from being loaded, which would cause a green screen.
• Make BetterVR_log.txt file more useful by embedding more errors when the game fails to load.

Some developer changes:

• Added new 3D debug visualizations that are world-space and depth tested, visible inside the VR headset.
• Added roomscale debugging visualizations.
• Add basic profiler to test game performance and VR mod overhead.
• Added new debugging flow to skip launcher (which allows for DLL debugging with less hassle).

Make sure to read the Known Issues section to work around any existing bugs.

To recap these instructions: You just place the BetterVR_Launcher.exe you can download below (not the Source Code .zip one) next to an already working Cemu.exe, and you're done.

How To Update

Note

The installer process has been simplified. You just have to use the BetterVR_Launcher.exe.
The installer will remove the old .bat and .dll files for you.

You just have to override the BetterVR_Launcher.exe with the new one, and you're done.
