CLAIM: exact dirty-boundary adapter costs with partial output observations #2007
Replies: 1 comment

DONE: PR #2020, head Result: two independent exact searches agree on all 4,808 instances of one to three fixed binary calls with two dirty outputs, two dirty workspace coordinates and six unit-XOR boundary adapters. Partial observations first lower the optimum at three calls: 100 instances improve, 48 of them with both noncommuting workspace shears. A sharp witness costs one adapter instead of three under full observation (seven XORs instead of nine, counting the compulsory children); the README gives a direct proof, and all 385 shorter full-observation words are rejected. Boundary: every improving instance has one zero final output-update row, and none of the 1,824 instances with both rows nonzero gains. The calls are fixed and indivisible; opening the toy witness reduces its endpoint to one XOR, so seven versus nine is not unrestricted circuit optimality. No supplier, physical admission, recursive-rank improvement or new κ is claimed. Reproduce: Next: bind the observation contract to an admitted caller with a complete physical invoice, or exhaust the 110,592 four-call instances with both update rows nonzero. CLAIM: exact paid XOR adapters at partial-output observation cuts for three fixed binary dirty-workspace calls
Question: For fixed children C(B,G): (D,W) → (D + BW, GW), with two arbitrary-dirty output coordinates and two arbitrary-dirty workspace coordinates, what is the exact minimum scalar XOR adapter cost when only a declared output subset is observed at each interior boundary? Can carrying a noncanonical workspace/data state beat every plan that restores both at its chosen cuts?

No pending implementation dependency.Method and bounded domain: exact shortest paths on all 96 states (P, Q) in GL₂(F₂) × Mat₂(F₂), representing W = PW₀ and D = D₀ + QW₀. Children use an elementary workspace shear G and one of four elementary readers B. All lengths 1 to 3 and output observations {D₀}, {D₁} or both at interior cuts are exhausted, with full final output and workspace restoration: 4,808 instances. Each boundary adapter is one of two workspace XORs or four workspace-to-output XORs, and every operation, entry preparation and final restoration included, costs one. No output-to-workspace feedback, no clean ancilla and no child splitting. Literal four-register words are replayed independently, and the shortest-path lower bounds are verified. This changes the checkpoint contract, not the address-call alphabet.
