Cuelith 0.7.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 20:06

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.9 e inglese 0.1.9 incluse nell'installatore.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

More personal song words: outline and shadow on single words, and the song leaves Cuelith and comes back in with its formatting, staying readable by everyone.

What is new

  • Outline and shadow on words: besides size, bold, italic and colour, each word can have an outline (thin, medium, thick, with its own colour) and a shadow (light or strong). The program's own text bar has them; for songs there is the Formatting 0.3.0 plugin. On the outputs and in the preview they look the same and scale with the screen, and lines never break.
  • Songs 0.8.0: exporting and importing with the formatting. "Export" stays the usual one: a clean file any program opens (OpenLP included); if the song has formatted words, a notice says they are not included. With the "With Cuelith formatting" box the file carries an extra block other programs ignore (a {meta: cuelith_format …} line in ChordPro, an element of our own in OpenLyrics) and Cuelith, reopening it, finds the formatted words again. Backups of all songs always keep the formatting.
  • Importing from other programs: OpenLyrics songs with bold, italic or colours written with other programs' tags (OpenLP and similar) become formatted words; whatever we do not recognise leaves the text as it is.
  • For developers: protocol 1.24 (outline and shadow in formatted words, OUTLINE_PRESETS, SHADOW_PRESETS).

Good to know

  • I could not test with OpenLP: the normal "Export" is clean on purpose. With "With Cuelith formatting" the file has one extra element that, by the standard, other programs ignore; if a program rejects it, use the normal export.
  • A show with outline or shadow on words, opened in an earlier version (0.6.x or before), may give an error.
  • Languages Italian 0.2.9 and English 0.1.9 are included in the installer.

GPL 3.0 or later.

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.8 e inglese 0.1.8 incluse nell'installatore.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

Formatted words: inside a text you can enlarge, bold, italicise or colour only some words, and the plain text stays as it is.

What is new

  • Formatted words in the editor of a text: select some words and, from the bar above the box, change size (50% to 300% of the rest), bold, italic (Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I) and colour; Clear formatting brings them back to normal. Below, "How the audience sees it" shows the formatted slides.
  • The same everywhere: preview, program, slide thumbnails and the real outputs. Lines never break, and "Fit if it does not fit" shrinks everything together, the big word included; outline and shadow apply to formatted words too.
  • The formatting follows the text: typing before, inside or after a formatted word moves it along (at the end of a word it continues, after a space it stops).
  • The text stays plain: whatever reads a slide's text (imports, exports, other programs, plugins that do not know about formatted words) finds the usual text. The formatted words sit next to it and can be exported together with the text.
  • Formatting as a companion plugin: for Songs and any other plugin with a text editor, formatting is a separate plugin, Formatting (whoever does not want it does not install it). Its bar appears on top of the editor window, only while you write: select some words and change their size, bold, italic and colour without switching windows. The program's own texts (+ Text) already have the bar built in.
  • Songs 0.7.0: in a song's sections you can format words (with Formatting installed); "How the audience sees it" shows them and on the projected slide they stay in place, without chords. A song without formatting stays identical. ChordPro and OpenLyrics export as plain text.
  • For developers: protocol 1.21 (spans in a slide's text field, with segmentsOf, plainText, styleRange, shiftSpans, sliceRich and joinRich in @cuelith/protocol) 1.22 (richtext.session, richtext.end, richtext.apply, live.richText; bindRichText and bindTextarea in @cuelith/panel) and 1.23 (placement: "editor" panels, i.e. toolbars on top of editors, and remapSpans); see the developer guide.

Good to know

  • A show with formatted words, opened in an earlier version (0.5.x or before), may give an error. Texts without formatting open as always.
  • The stage monitor (Stage look) shows the text without formatting.
  • Songs exports ChordPro and OpenLyrics without formatting (plain text); the formatted words stay in Cuelith's own data.
  • Languages Italian 0.2.8 and English 0.1.8 are included in the installer.

GPL 3.0 or later.

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 09:09

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.7 e inglese 0.1.7 incluse nell'installatore.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

A complete text-style editor: twenty-seven real typefaces, weights, italic, letter spacing and position, with a sample that follows what you project.

What is new

  • Twenty-seven typefaces, built into the program (they work offline), in five families with a line saying what each is for: Serif (long texts and songs), Sans serif (the most readable), Headlines, Handwritten and Fixed width. Each one is shown in its own typeface, so you choose by looking. The original three (Fraunces, Schibsted Grotesk, JetBrains Mono) are still there and styles you already made do not change.
  • Weight in six steps (light, regular, medium, semi-bold, bold, black) and italic: only the ones a typeface really has are offered, never letters invented by the browser that would differ from the outputs. A typeface with a single weight or no italic says so and does not pretend.
  • Letter spacing and position of the text (top, middle, bottom; above the credits when there are any). The space check accounts for everything: weight, italic and spacing change the width, and the text still never breaks a line.
  • A clearer editor: the style window is wider, with the preview always in view next to the controls, and groups the choices into Font, Look, Size and position, and Outline, shadow and fitting.
  • The sample follows what you project: the editor preview shows the text of the slide you have in preview; with no slide it shows sample text in the language in use, with four lines of different lengths (the best way to see how a style behaves).
  • Style of a single text (the Style tab of a text or song editor): the same list of typefaces, plus weight and italic.
  • For developers: protocol 1.20 (font with 27 typefaces, weight with six values and italic in single-text overrides).

Good to know

  • A show that uses the new typefaces or weights, opened in an earlier version (0.4.x), may give an error. Shows written before open as always.
  • Underline and word spacing are not there yet: for now only what the outputs and the preview draw identically is offered.
  • Languages Italian 0.2.7 and English 0.1.7 are included in the installer.

GPL 3.0 or later.

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 22:34

  • Finestra Plugin in tre schede: Marketplace, Installati e Lingue.

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.6 e inglese 0.1.6 incluse nell'installatore.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

Text styles: choose in one click how projected text looks, and customise a single text from the editor.

What is new

  • Text styles, under the backgrounds: you create them (typeface, size, line height, bold, uppercase, colour, alignment, margin) and pick them at any time, in preview and live. None are built in: use + to make one from the one in use.
  • Style of a single text: in the editor of a text or song, the Style tab lets you change only what you need (size as a scale, typeface, colour, alignment, line height, bold, uppercase) with an instant preview.
  • The chosen style wins: while a style from the row is on, it replaces the editor's changes; with None they come back as they were (they stay saved).
  • Projected text stays readable: a style in which the text would not fit the outputs cannot be chosen (for what is on air, in preview or selected; for the rest of the playlist a ⚠ warning appears). With "Shrink to fit" the text gets smaller down to a minimum, the same for all slides of an item.
  • While writing with a style on, the editor warns you if a slide would not fit.
  • Outline and shadow in text styles: width, colour, distance and blur.
  • Lines are never broken: with "Shrink to fit" every line of the text stays whole; if needed the text gets smaller (even below the minimum: live, small beats broken).
  • Animated GIFs move on the outputs too, not only in the station.
  • "Background only": a button next to Clear hides the text on all room outputs and keeps the background; it stays on while you change slides and a second click turns it off. The stage monitor keeps its text.
  • Right column redesigned in Present: no vertical scrolling, a bigger preview, labels outside the text; backgrounds and styles are rows that scroll sideways.
  • Faithful preview: in the small frame the text no longer spills over the edge.
  • Search and go (Ctrl+K): type the name of a plugin, a command (Next, Background only…), a layout, a setting or a playlist item and press Enter. It works with the keyboard alone; the magnifier in the icon column opens it with the mouse.
  • Favourites in the icon column: with many plugins, the column keeps the ones you use most (star in "All plugins"); the others are found by searching and open in a tab. Until you choose, you see all of them as before; a newly installed plugin pins itself.
  • Plugin settings, the same for all: gear on the plugin's tab, Settings button in the Plugins window, and search. Every change saves itself, Reset goes back to the default. For developers: protocol 1.18 (contributes.settings with description, limits and choices, pluginsettings.get/set commands and the core.plugin.settingsChanged event).
  • Plugin window in three tabs: Marketplace, Installed and Languages. Languages no longer sit among the plugins: in the Languages tab choose Use this language and see the other ones available. The marketplace has a Free / Paid filter, puts what you already installed last, and shows the plugin's picture and How to use it before you install it.
  • Welcome to Cuelith: the first time, with no tools yet, it suggests the most useful plugins (Songs first), installs them in one click and opens the tool. You can always find it again with Ctrl+K and "welcome".
  • Installer: choose the language (Italian or English) at the start and Cuelith starts in the same one; if Cuelith is already installed, the setup says it is an update and leaves your shows, settings and plugins alone.
  • For developers: the cover image (image in the manifest) and the how-to guide (onboarding) come from the package and show in the marketplace and on the website (protocol 1.19).
  • Songs 0.6.0 (from the marketplace): a more compact panel with the actions always at the bottom, an editor with a big title, sections colour-coded by type, quick jump and a preview of what the audience sees, slide by slide and in projection order.
  • Slide column: S / M / L thumbnails, the state written in words ("on air", "next"), the slide count and the on-air slide always kept in view in long songs.
  • Swap program and preview: a button with two circular arrows next to the program controls swaps their sizes (big program live, big preview while preparing); your choice is remembered.
  • Tabs: Ctrl+Tab goes back to the tab you used before; tabs opened from search close with the ×.
  • Sturdier with many plugins: plugins run at a lower priority than the control view and the outputs, if the co...

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.5 e inglese 0.1.5 incluse nell'installatore.
  • I plugin già installati e i tuoi file non cambiano.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

The tabs in the left column no longer overflow when you install many plugins.

What is new

  • Scrolling tabs: when they do not all fit, the row stays a single line (it never changes height and tabs never move around), edges with hidden tabs fade, and you scroll with the mouse wheel, the ‹ › arrows or the keyboard.
  • List of all tabs: the ▾ button on the right opens the full list; picking one scrolls the row to show it.
  • The active tab stays in view, even when you choose it from the keyboard or a plugin opens it.

Good to know

  • Italian 0.2.5 and English 0.1.5 languages are included in the installer.
  • Plugins you already installed and your files do not change.

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.4 e inglese 0.1.4 incluse nell'installatore.
  • I plugin già installati e i tuoi file non cambiano.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

Uninstalling a plugin that is running now always works, and installing a plugin from a file or a folder shows that work is in progress.

What is new

  • Uninstalling a running plugin: on Windows it could previously show "Internal engine error" and leave the plugin half-removed in the list. Cuelith now stops the plugin, waits for it to close, then removes the files. If a file stays busy, it is removed at the next start.
  • You can see it working: installing from a file or folder, and uninstalling, now shows "Installing…" (or "Uninstalling…") with an indicator, and the buttons stay disabled until it finishes.

Good to know

  • Italian 0.2.4 and English 0.1.4 languages are included in the installer.
  • Plugins you already installed and your files do not change.

Venduto da Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record)».
Funziona come prima.

  • Lingue italiano 0.2.3 e inglese 0.1.3 incluse nell'installatore. Il plugin Brani 0.5.2 si installa dal marketplace.
  • I plugin già installati e i tuoi file non cambiano.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

The marketplace gets clearer: every paid plugin says who makes it and who sells it, and installing plugins is more robust on Windows.

What is new

  • Who makes it and who sells it: a paid plugin's page now reads "Made by [author]. Sold by Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record)". Cuelith sells nothing and never sees your payment details.
  • No commission: the project charges authors no percentage and the purchase text no longer mentions referral references. The price is the author's store price.
  • "Canti" becomes "Brani" in Italian: the plugin and the interface texts use a more general name, suitable for any kind of event. It works as before. (In English it was already "Songs".)
  • More robust plugin installation on Windows: if an antivirus or another program keeps the folder busy for a moment, Cuelith retries instead of showing an error.

Good to know

  • Italian 0.2.3 and English 0.1.3 languages are included in the installer. The Brani 0.5.2 plugin installs from the marketplace.

  • I plugin gratuiti e quelli già installati funzionano come prima.

Licenza GPL 3.0 o successiva.

Cuelith now has a marketplace for paid plugins: you buy from the author's store and the licence activates inside Cuelith, with no account.

What is new

  • Paid plugins in the Marketplace: in the Plugins window they show a "Paid" badge, the price and a Buy button that opens the author's store. Buyers get a licence key.
  • Enter the key and you are done: paste it in Cuelith, the plugin installs and starts. No account, no sign-up.
  • Each key works on 3 computers. In Plugins → Installed you can see the licence state, use "Check now" and "Deactivate this computer" to free the seat.
  • A live show never stops because of a licence: renewal happens on its own in the background (every 30 days, with 90 days of grace without internet) and a plugin only switches off once the show is over.
  • Licences are kept safe: they are stored encrypted on your computer and tied to it; a permit copied elsewhere does not work.
  • Plugins signed by their author: packages can be signed, and Cuelith checks the signature before installing or updating.
  • For developers: ctx.license.verify() in the SDK (protocol 1.15) to check the licence inside your own plugin.
  • Italian 0.2.2 and English 0.1.2 languages with the new texts.

Good to know

  • Free plugins and the ones you already installed work as before.
  • The program collects no payments: the sale goes through the author's store at a registered reseller.
  • If you have no internet when you activate a key, activation is not possible: you only need a connection for that moment.

GPL 3.0 or later licence.
