Source Level Editor 2.104

Instant Preview of Primitives

Source Level Editor (SLE) allows for instant preview of Block Tool primitives before creating them. It renders the future primitives with a white wireframe in 3D View and wireframe + light grey filling in 2D Views.

Instant preview of a Cylinder.

Instant previews of an Arch.

Instant previews of a Torus.

Note: as of SLE 2.104, it does not preview reorienting or stretching primitives on creation (if either of the settings are chosen).

Extended Primitives Category

In addition to Primitives and Prefabs categories of created objects, Block Tool can now create Extended Primitives - a category of more complex polyhedrons that would otherwise require using more than one brush or time-consuming clipping or vertex editing.

The new category currently includes five items:

  • Antiprism (a prism with bottom face rotated by 180 / [number of sides] relative to the top face);
  • Bipyramid (a pyramid mirrored along its bottom face);
  • Elongated bypiramid (a bipyramid with rectangular faces inserted between its top and bottom sections);
  • Gyroelongated bypiramid (an elongated bipyramid with its mid part triangulated and the bottom section rotated by 180 / [number of sides]);
  • Icosahedron.

All of them are can be previewed before creation like the regular primitives.

Miscellaneous changes

  • Block Tool now has the Start Angle control.
    It allows for rotating the primitive before the creation; previously it was only possible for Arches and Toruses.
    As of 2.104 it does not rotate Wedges or Blocks.
  • Block Tool can now be 'nudged' (if nudging by arrow keys is enabled in the settings.
  • Block Tool can now be initiated (as in placing the creation box) in the 3D View, for faster building when using maximised 3D Viewport.
