Release list
Dannify 4.8.0
Dannify now runs on Linux and macOS as well as Windows, and every copy updates itself from signed releases.
Downloads
- Windows 10 and 11:
Dannify-Setup-4.8.0.exe. Installed copies update by themselves. - Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint and the like (64-bit):
linux-dannify_4.8.0_amd64.deb, thensudo apt install ./linux-dannify_4.8.0_amd64.deb. - macOS:
macos-Dannify-4.8.0-arm64.dmgfor Apple silicon,macos-Dannify-4.8.0-x64.dmgfor Intel Macs. The app is not notarized by Apple yet: the first time, right-click Dannify and choose Open (or allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security).
Each file has a .sig beside it: the release signature every installed copy checks before it installs anything.
New
- Linux: a real desktop app. Tray icon, media keys and the desktop's media panel, download progress on the dock, start at login, Show in folder, Google sign-in in its own window, and updates installed with your password. Your session and the key your songs are saved with stay in the system keyring.
- macOS: the same app in a Mac window, with the menu bar icon, media keys and Now Playing.
- Lyrics, redesigned: a cleaner view, and a three-step editor for writing, timing and sending lyrics, fully usable from the keyboard. Right-to-left lyrics (Arabic, Hebrew) now line up the right way.
- Accessibility: the light themes are easier to read, every button can be reached and understood with the keyboard and a screen reader, and the song list and sidebar work with the arrow keys.
Fixed
- Some artists could not be opened or followed ("This could not be loaded"): plain YouTube channels now have a page with all their uploads, and following one sticks.
- After a restart, a long queue could resume on the wrong song, and some songs came back without their title, artist or artwork. The queue now comes back exactly as it was.
- The player bar's "⋯" menu opened over its own button.
- On narrow windows the player bar squeezed the song title, and the sign-in button crowded the search box.
- Saved songs show the same download mark everywhere.
Dannify 4.7.0
- Safer updates: every update is now signed, and Dannify refuses any update that does not carry Dannify's own signature.
- If an update ever cannot start on your PC, Dannify goes back to the version you had and now tells you so, instead of staying silent.
- Update checks are lighter on the network and wait politely when GitHub asks them to.
- A tidier title bar: one Settings button (in the sidebar) and one Sign in button.
- A calmer player bar: About and the mini player are in the ⋯ menu; the sleep timer shows while it runs.
- Songs saved on this PC show a download arrow instead of a green tick, so it no longer looks like a second "like".
- Home makes better use of space when you have only played a song or two.
Dannify 4.6.2
Dannify 4.6.2
Dannify has a new home
- Dannify's updates and downloads now come from https://github.com/DANIELMWENDWA9451/Dannify, where its source now lives in public.
- The old downloads page, dannify-releases, is retired. This update is the last one published there, so that every copy finds its way to the new home. There's nothing you need to do.
Fixes
- Song artwork is more reliable. Downloading a cover is now retried if it fails, and only real images are kept. Before, one dropped connection while several songs were saving could leave a song without its picture for good.

Licence
- Dannify is licensed under the MIT License (see
LICENSEin the repository). This build's bundledLICENSEfile carries the proprietary text Dannify used briefly before switching to MIT on 6 October 2026; builds after 4.6.2 ship the MIT text. - The open-source components inside Dannify, and their licences, are listed in
THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md, which also ships with the app.
Under the hood
- Dannify reads and writes song details (title, artists, album, artwork, lyrics) with its own code now, in place of a library whose licence didn't fit a closed app.
- Songs you've already saved read exactly as before, and new downloads carry the same details and artwork.
- If a song is ever saved in a format other than M4A, its details and artwork go straight into Dannify's own song file.

The Sound panel, right on the play bar
- Equalizer you can shape by hand. Drag the dots on the curve and watch the music's live spectrum move behind it. Double-click a dot to reset it, or use the mouse wheel to nudge it.
- Your own presets. Save a sound you like, then overwrite or delete it with a right-click. The built-in presets are still there (Bass, Vocal, Afrobeats, Late night and more).
- Pre-amp with an Auto setting that leaves room for boosts, so loud songs don't distort.
- Effects: crossfade, gapless playback, even-out loudness (Quiet / Normal / Loud), playback speed from 0.5× to 2× with a keep-the-pitch switch.
- Space: left/right balance, mono audio for one earbud, and a quick way to pick the output device.
- Reset all puts everything back in one click. You no longer need to go to Settings for any of it.
Your Library, built for big collections
- Downloads no longer sit in your library. They're progress, not a collection.
- Artists: your top artists show in the side bar, plus an "All artists" row. Filter chips, search and Recents / Alphabetical sorting work across the whole library.
- Libraries with tens of thousands of artists stay fast. Only what's on screen is drawn, the Artists page loads more as you scroll, sorting is about 40× quicker, and memory use has been cut by more than half.
Your YouTube Music account, used properly
- Follow artists from their page. The artists you follow appear in Your Library.
- Add songs to your YouTube Music playlists straight from the add-to-playlist menu.
- Recently played on YouTube Music on Home. Optionally, what you play here also counts in your YouTube Music history, which improves its suggestions. You can turn this off in Settings.
Smaller, quicker updates
- The program is now split into parts, so an update downloads only what changed. This update is about 15 MB because the program's layout changes; from the next one on, most updates are a few hundred kilobytes instead of the whole app.
Songs you deleted keep playing
- If a song in your queue is deleted from your computer (in Dannify or in File Explorer), it now plays from YouTube Music instead of failing with a "moved or deleted" message.
- Moved a song to another folder? The queue follows it to its new place.
- Offline, a deleted song is skipped with one clear message. Back online, it plays from YouTube Music as usual.
- A deleted song with no online version leaves the queue quietly, instead of failing every time it comes round.
Small windows
- The Lyrics / Queue panel no longer sits over the page in a narrow window. It steps aside and comes back when there's room again.
- In narrow windows the play bar keeps the song name readable. The sleep timer, Now playing and mini player move into a "⋯" menu.
- Page headers wrap neatly instead of squeezing their titles.
Polish and fixes
- A song you opened from File Explorer no longer starts playing by itself the next time you open Dannify.
- An artist you follow now shows "Following" on their page too.
- "Jump back in" no longer lists a song twice when it played both saved and online.
- Settings no longer talks about file formats, and the wording is plainer throughout.
- Menus are never taller than the window. They scroll instead.
- Setup is more patient with files that Windows or antivirus software briefly hold while it installs.
- The add-to-playlist menu shows your 15 most recent playlists, with the rest one click away.
- Fixed a list that could go blank after a filter made it shorter.
- Very large libraries no longer make the window go blank.
- Report a problem is coming soon.
