Introduction

Welcome to the official AlSet user guide! In order to ensure a safe, reliable, and enjoyable driving experience, please read this manual carefully. Thank you for choosing our product.

Prerequisites

  • Android Studio
  • Android device

AlSet was developed on both Windows and MacOS. Therefore, to ensure a quality user guide, support for both of these two platforms is provided via the link below.

Windows/MacOS Installation Guide

Logging in

IMPORTANT NOTE: AlSet does not support more than one active user session. If you forget to log out and then run AlSet on a device other than the one you forgot to log out on, your AlSet is considered MIA. You will have to send a support ticket to the dev team.

This is the AlSet login page. AlSet takes in a username and password as credentials for your car. These credentials were provided to you upon purchasing your AlSet, but if you are here to try out the functionalities of the car and its authentication features, a demo account has been provided below:

Username: demouser@alset.com
Password: password

Additionally, you can simply click on Debug Mode in order to access the car without any username or password. If this mode is used, all settings will be saved locally, rather than on the cloud.

Main Menu

Welcome to the AlSet Main Menu. This is where you can see an overview of your car, and tweak it to your preferences. The battery meter provides an at-a-glance view of your phone's battery in order to ensure that your phone is charged during the operation of this vehicle.

Additionally, you may tweak the driving sensitivity of your AlSet by choosing from ten different settings on the slider. Five is the default.

WARNING: Zero is not recommended, you will be unable to turn your car at all

Once you are satisfied with the settings you have provided to the app, they will be saved on the cloud or locally (depending on which login you used). You can then click on Drive! in order to begin driving!

If you would like to log out, click on in the top right corner of the screen.

Drive Screen

Here is your AlSet. Initially, your car is set to Park Mode, denoted by the P and D icons. A battery meter at the middle provides you with up-to-date knowledge of your phone's battery in order to ensure that your phone is charged during the operation of this vehicle.

Before operating your AlSet, please ensure that the Arduino sketch is compiled and started on SMCE-gd and that you have set up your MQTT properly. SMCE-gd must run concurrently with the app. Failing to do so will provide you with incomplete functionality of your AlSet.

If this has all been done, set your car to Drive Mode by clicking on D. You will be greeted with a camera view of your car, as well as a number of different functionalities starting up.

In order to drive your car, use the joystick and actuate it based on where you want the car to go. AlSet also supports voice recognition, which is accessed through a simple tap of the Microphone button. Several keywords are supported, namely:

  • "AlSet, go forward."
  • "AlSet, reverse."
  • "AlSet, stop."
  • "AlSet, speed X." where X is the speed setting.
  • "AlSet, turn left/right."

AlSet also supports obstacle recognition from its high-tech proximity sensors. Driving closer to an object will trigger the sensors, causing a visible warning to appear.

Remember to drive safely, and follow all rules and regulations!
