Summary of Changes

Hello @Dargon789, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a foundational continuous integration pipeline for the project by updating the CircleCI configuration. It replaces a generic setup with a Rust-specific environment, enabling automated checks for code formatting and unit tests. This change ensures that basic code quality and functionality are verified with every commit, streamlining the development workflow.

Highlights

  • CI Pipeline Initialization: The CircleCI configuration has been updated to establish a functional continuous integration pipeline for the project, moving beyond a placeholder 'hello world' setup.
  • Rust Environment Setup: The CI environment now uses a cimg/rust:1.78.0 Docker image, providing a dedicated environment for Rust development.
  • Automated Code Quality Checks: New steps have been added to automatically check Rust code formatting using cargo fmt -- --check and run all project tests with cargo test.
  • Workflow Renaming: The CircleCI workflow has been renamed from say-hello-workflow to ci for better clarity and alignment with standard CI practices.

Code Review

This pull request introduces a basic CI workflow for building and testing the project, which is a great step forward. My review focuses on improving the robustness and efficiency of this new CI configuration. I've pointed out a mismatch between the Rust version in the CI and the project's configuration, which could lead to future build issues. Additionally, I've suggested adding dependency caching to significantly speed up CI runs. Addressing these points will result in a more reliable and faster CI pipeline.

The current CI setup doesn't cache dependencies, which will cause cargo to download and compile all dependencies from scratch on every run. This is inefficient and will make the CI pipeline slow. I recommend adding caching for cargo dependencies and build artifacts using CircleCI's restore_cache and save_cache steps to significantly improve performance.

      - restore_cache:
          keys:
            - v1-cargo-{{ checksum "Cargo.lock" }}
