David Edgecombe

Director and Lead Unity Developer at Ocean View Games. London, UK.

Unity Certified Expert. Previously Mobile Team Lead at Jagex (2017-2019), where I helped port RuneScape, a 20-year-old PC MMO, to iOS and Android. The launch hit #1 RPG on the App Store and has driven millions of installs.

Before Jagex, I built educational games at Fish in a Bottle for the Museum of London and Cambridge University Press.

What I work on

  • High-performance Unity architecture for mobile and multiplayer
  • Thermal, battery, and memory profiling on constrained devices
  • Server-authoritative netcode with FishNet, from co-op to MMO-scale
  • Mobile porting and performance rescue work on live titles

Selected work

  • Domi Online: led the architecture for a FishNet-based MMO supporting 1,000+ concurrent players. The technical foundation helped the client close a $3M seed round.
  • RuneScape Mobile: mobile team contributor on the port of RuneScape.
  • Fire of London: Flash-to-HTML5 educational game for the Museum of London.
