Help & Troubleshooting

Before reporting a problem

Confirm that you are using the v1.7 .mltbx release, that MATLAB can open the BehaviorDEPOT app from the Apps tab, and that every session has a readable video and matching tracking file.

For batch input, each session folder must contain exactly one supported video (.mp4 or .avi) and exactly one tracking file of the selected type. Cue CSV files must include cue in their filename.

Common issues

Symptom What to check
No app appears in the Apps tab Reinstall the .mltbx file, then restart MATLAB.
Batch analysis reports an ambiguous file Remove extra videos or tracking candidates from that session folder, or make the intended tracking filename more specific.
A tracked-part mapping looks wrong Correct the mapping in the registration dialog and confirm it. Saved defaults apply only to matching detected labels and should be reviewed after changing models.
ROI analysis cannot continue Draw and name every requested ROI, or disable custom ROIs if they are not needed. For batch analysis, choose the intended reuse option after the first session.
Cue events are missing Verify that the cue file is CSV or XLSX with start frames in column 1 and stop frames in column 2. In batch mode, include cue in the CSV filename.
Output files are not where expected For a single analysis, look beside the video for <video-stem>_analyzed. For batch analysis, look inside each session folder.

Get support

Please open a GitHub issue for bugs, installation problems, and feature requests. Include:

  1. BehaviorDEPOT version and installation method.
  2. MATLAB release, operating system, and required toolbox availability.
  3. Whether the run was single-session or batch.
  4. A minimal description of the input-folder layout and file extensions.
  5. The complete MATLAB error message and the steps that reproduce it.

Do not attach sensitive video data. If possible, provide a small anonymized tracking file or a screenshot of the error instead.
