No error handling when starting MFA without access to proxy

To recreate: 
- disable networking (or at least block access to proxy)
- open client
- try to connect to MFA-protected location
- choose MFA method in modal
- client hangs on loader without any error toaster being shown to notify there's an issue with proxy
