FAQ

The menu doesn't open

  • Hold the combo for about a second: L + R on a SNES/Super Famicom, B + Down on a NES/Famicom. If you changed it in Controller, use yours.
  • Check in hakchi that Options Menu is installed (Modules → Uninstall extra modules lists installed mods).
  • If you use an hmod that replaces the console's libstdc++ (e.g. RetroArch 1.8.4 Xtreme SC), install Options Menu (compat) instead. See Installation.

I set a combo I can't press / forgot

Uninstall and reinstall the menu from hakchi, or delete /etc/options_menu/button.cfg over hakchi's FTP or SSH and restart the console. It goes back to L+R (B+Down on NES/Famicom).

An entry I expected isn't there

Entries that can't work right now are hidden:

  • USB entries (backups to USB, Saved Games, logs) need a USB/SD drive connected
  • RetroArch needs RetroArch installed
  • Restore Wifi Config needs a backup to restore
  • Epilepsy protection is NES/Famicom only, Start on 2nd controller Famicom only
  • Theme Options comes from the Theme Selector hmod

Does it work with CompCom's 1.3.4 plugins?

Yes. The command file format is the same, with new optional fields. The old PREVIEW_IMAGE_X/Y/WIDTH/HEIGHT fields are accepted and ignored: previews are always centered and scaled to fit.

Can I use Theme Selector 3 with CompCom's 1.3.4?

No. Theme Selector 3 is built on this menu's interface. Install this one; it replaces 1.3.4 and keeps your settings.

Japanese text looks blocky

Install the Japanese Font Pack for a smooth Japanese font.

How do I report a problem?

  1. If you have a USB/SD drive, run Advanced Options → Diagnostics → Save kernel log (to USB), and System Information.
  2. In hakchi, choose Modules → Generate modules report.
  3. Open an issue with what happened, the report, and /media/data/log/dmesg.log.
