SWX 2021 occasionally crashing without error message

Prerequisites

• I have made sure the issue is not related to (-8 554 0).

Describe the issue

Installation has worked with SWX 2021. Thank you for that!
I had to deselect the SWX Electronics Add On, since it would cause a failure with the installation of SQL.

Without that, SWX is up and running. But it crashes occasionally without any error message. It happens very fast. Simply closes and loses some of the progress.

Any idea on why this is?

Also, is there anything I can clean up after the installation? Can I remove the server?

Ok, first of all, do not delete the server, there is nothing to cleanup after installation don't worry, except ofc the zip file you downloaded, the installation auto-cleans up everything else

Can you please upload the solidworks crash log here?
You may find it here %AppData%\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2021\CrashReports\

For now, my best guess is either a faulty gpu driver issue cuz a sudden exit with no error means the process terminated outside SolidWorks exception handling.

If you cannot find the error log, try using windows:

1. Press Win + R

2. Type eventvwr.msc → press Enter

3. In the left pane, expand Windows Logs → Application

4. In the center list, look for entries with:

   • Source: Application Error or SolidWorks
   • Level: Error
   • Date/Time: around when the crash happened

5. Select one. The bottom panel shows details like:

   • Faulting application name: sldworks.exe
   • Faulting module name: (for example ntdll.dll or atioglxx.dll)
   • Exception code: (for example 0xc0000005)
   • Fault offset and path

You can right-click → Copy → Copy Details as Text and paste it here. That gives the exact crash module, which narrows down the cause.
