quicksheet-co2

Live atmospheric CO₂ readings from NOAA's Mauna Loa Observatory displayed in your QuickSheet terminal spreadsheet or desktop wallpaper.

Free, no API key required. Data sourced directly from NOAA's public dataset.

Usage

co2: current → current ppm, baseline comparison, year-over-year, 7-day trend
co2: trend → last 30 days of readings with daily changes
co2: stats → record highs/lows and annual averages by year

Example Output

🟠 CO₂ — Mauna Loa Observatory
Current Level 432.04 ppm
vs Pre-Industrial +152.04 ppm (54.3% ↑)
Year-over-Year +3.12 ppm

🟢 Below 400 ppm
🟡 400–420 ppm
🟠 420–450 ppm
🔴 Above 450 ppm

Installation

# In QuickSheet, type in any cell:
ext: github:Deskworks/quicksheet-co2

# Then use the prefix in another cell:
co2: current

Requirements

  • QuickSheet (any platform)
  • .NET 9 SDK
  • Internet access (fetches NOAA GML CSV)

Data Source

Data comes from NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory, Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii. Daily measurements have been recorded since 1958.

The pre-industrial baseline used is 280 ppm (circa 1750).

Protocol

Implements the QuickSheet Extension Protocol. Reads JSON-lines from stdin, writes cell updates to stdout.

Part of the QuickSheet extension ecosystem.
