Update on the DevRel Foundation and its next phase

We would like to share an update on the DevRel Foundation and its next phase

As developer relations evolves alongside AI, shifting technology adoption patterns, and new expectations for DevRel leaders, the Foundation has an opportunity to continue alignment with the profession's needs

To support this next phase, the DevRel Foundation will begin a governance transition. The current Steering Committee has recognized that the Foundation’s next phase requires a renewed governance structure and has completed its service during this transition

This transition will build on the work already established while broadening community participation and leadership. The DevRel Foundation exists to serve the DevRel community. Its priorities, programs, and leadership should be shaped by the practitioners who participate in it and by the profession's needs.

The Linux Foundation will help facilitate a stable and transparent transition by restoring regular communication, community touchpoints, and clear ways for members to participate, take ownership, and influence the Foundation’s direction

The next phase will begin with an open community process focused on:

• The Foundation’s future priorities
• Clearer and more accessible contribution paths
• Resources and programs most valuable to the community
• Community members willing to help lead and deliver the work

Establishing the next Steering Committee will be part of this process, but the immediate priority is to rebuild an active, transparent, and participatory community where leadership grows from meaningful contributions

Linux Foundation staff will support this transition within their existing capacity. Progress depends on community members stepping forward to shape priorities, organize the work, and help deliver it. Further details on upcoming community discussions and concrete opportunities to participate will be shared soon 🙇‍♀️
