[BUG] 2026.1.5 - needlessly downloads and tries to install vcredist - v14

Describe your issue

The latest installer forces a download from aka[.]ms and
.download.visualstudio.microsoft[.]com. for vcredist even when the latest version is already installed on the machine, this wasn't the behavior in previous releases.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Check if vcredist v14 latest is installed.
Install 2026.1.5 and monitor network/dns traffic.
Notice the execution and non silent install of vcredist

That was never needed before, was this a deliberate change in the default install routine?

There were a few changes recently in the installer to fix vcredist for ARM64:

Is the problem that it now always silently downloads it, or does it always re-launch the vcredist installer when it's already installed? Hernan Martinez (@hmartinez82) if this rings a bell

hi,

the update had been installed successfully (except my stupidly administrated Lenovo PCs with Windows 10 stupidly administrated by lenovo ... before every unigetUI upgrade we have to close unigetUI as fast as we can right after the update starts) but there is something that can be improved.

the moment i saw the update on my laptop, i installed it right away. my laptop works better than the Lenovo PC's. i switched to other PC's (only the Lenovo PC's have wrong admin right, the other no-name-selfmade-PCs work fine) and there was no update. i thought searching for UNIGET-UI update in the software-updates tab makes sense and had been implemented already. i closed unigetUI and restarted it and the unigetUI update had been downloaded and installed in less than 5 minutes, which means, unigetUI check on newer versions on every new start.

The update had been installed successfully (except my stupidly administrated Lenovo PCs with Windows 10 stupidly administrated and preinstalled with windows 8, then upgraded to 8.1 and 10, somehow every program will be started in admin mode and even Lenovo doesn't know why, we are sure that format and reinstall solves this problem).
