Larger assets hosted by DPEL create greater overhead for potential users. For example, a 1.4TB archive might not be able to be easily or successfully downloaded by a user wanting a single example file.
Consider ways to better facilitate the usability of larger assets.
Things to consider:
- Break up larger monolithic downloads into smaller, more reasonably sized downloads
- Provide greater documentation about the contents of downloads (available without downloading the file), for example a directory of the download structure, utilities for handling larger files
- Provide "sample pack" downloads, for assets with hundreds/thousands of instances of a particular file type
- Provide guidelines for contributors about asset structure, e.g. max preferred file size, keeping textures / geometry separate
