Google Play

  1. Before starting, make sure that there's not uncommitted changes in the local repo. The repo should be a "release candidate" for production.

Also, delete PORTOphone_android/bin/data/images/high-res/ if it exists, because otherwise the apk won't be under 50MB.

  1. In Eclipse, bump the version numbers in AndroidManifest.xml.

Make sure to edit both android:versionCode and android:versionName elements.

  1. Check if the apk is accepted by Google Play.
  1. In Eclipse, File -> Export Application....
  2. Click Export Android Application.
  3. Select PORTOphone project.
  4. Use existing keystore android_key file sent via email in 18 Feb 2014. Also includes the password.
  5. Use the only alias available.
  6. Finish and generate the apk.
  7. Go to Google Play Developer Console.
  8. Select PORTOphone application.
  9. In the left side menu click on APK.
  10. Click the blue button Upload new APK to Production.
  11. Upload the generated apk file from Eclipse.

3). If everything is OK then create a commit that only includes the bumping of the versions and upload it to GH.

  1. Create a release in Github.
  1. Here's the link.
  2. Include a change log! Check the commit messages in between releases and/or closed issues.
  3. Upload apk with included tag name. Example is PORTOphone_v1.2-android.apk and not just PORTOphone.apk.

5). Finish in Google Play Developer Console. Use the same change log as in GH release.
