Sync stops or fails when application is not opened/active on the screen

Description

Syncing only works when application is opened, if you open another application or make it background (like locking the phone) sync immedietly stops or fails.

Reproduction steps

1. Start a sync
2. Open another app or lock the screen or just make the app to background
3. Sync stops or fails and won't continue until opening the app again
