Yass Reloaded 2025.4
Features
Refactoring of Audio Playback
The playback has been refactored to use native Java functions instead of JavaFX which will result in a more precise playback, especially when it comes to the piano notes.
For now, JavaFX has been removed, but it may be reintroduced for video playback at one point. Note, that when Yass Reloaded 2025.4 is opened the first time, it will generate piano samples, which may take 1-2 minutes during startup.
Normalization of Audio Playback
- If a ReplayGain tag is found in the audio file, the playback will be normalized accordingly.
- While Yass Reloaded will not calculate a ReplayGain by itself, it is still possible to perform a RMS (Root-Mean-Square) normalization, by defining a target dB-Fullscale value in the Settings (Preferences → Advanced → Audio/Video → dBFS). This setting will take effect, if no ReplayGain can be determined. Note that the normalization will not be saved and is only performed to provide a better playback experience while editing.
Align Notes to Grid
Select "Edit → Align Notes to Grid" or CTRLG will align all notes to the right of the cursor on the page to the nearest position dividable by 4
Preview Song
When in editing mode, you can now choose "Play → Preview All" or "Play → Preview Remainder" to play the whole song (or the rest of the song from the current cursor position onwards). You can check "Enable Instrument", "Enable Audio" and/or "Enable Ticks" to play the song with audio, the piano and/or click-sound.
If activated, the editing functions will be disabled.
Visit USDB from Context Menu
If a song had been downloaded with USDB Syncer, it is now possible to open the song in USDB via the context menu from the song list (right-click), through a new menu item "Visit USDB" has been introduced to open the song page on USDB
Overwrite Text Mode
When in lyrics editing mode, it is now possible to toggle between "Insert mode" (default) and "Overwrite mode" by pressing the "Insert" key on the keyboard.
Bugfixes
Display of Waveforms
This feature has been around since the original Yass. Unfortunately, this has never worked properly.

Now, the amplitudes of the audio file are correctly shown and can help you to do fine-adjustments in terms of timing and length. You can enable this feature from Extras → Preferences → Advanced → Debug → Show Waveform
Please be aware, that - unless you are using an audio with extracted vocals - the waveform includes all instruments and can throw you off
