A4 ‐ Content Editing in CList
CList supports the use of multiple content editors to work with different content types. Two editors are built in to CList:
- text editor - default editor that starts when CList starts - can also be used as a markdown editor
- HTML editor - CList uses a free version of TinyMCE as a WYSIWYG HTML editor
If you are happy using the text editor you don't have to do anything to use it; it will just work. Most people may want to use additional editors, however.
Editors are launched using the 'Load' button. The load button allows you to pre-load content into the editor before you begin to use it. Pre-loaded content may include text, markdown or HTML files on your own file system. Additional services offer additional content options.
The load button gives you the following options:
- load blank editor
- load from file system
Make your selection. Select the file from the file system if that is what you have selected. You will then be offered a choice of editors to use.
Once content has been selected, you will be presented with a choice of editors appropriate to the type of content you have selected. Click on the button to open your editor of choice.
While editing, you may load additional content from the reader. Place your cursor where you want the content to load and click the small arrow button to the right of the status item.
Important: there is currently no auto-save. So be sure to save regularly just in case.
To save your content, click on the 'Save' button. Save options will appear in the right-hand pane.
There is one save option built in to CList:
- save as local file
In browsers that can access the file system, this option will allow you to specify a save location. In Firefox, this option will allow you to save the file to your download folder.
With the addition of other services, other save options will be enabled, as well as options to post to social media and blogging websites.
