Windows Update (KB5079473) breaks Duo, causes Sunshine to fail to start on instance profiles

Duo has been working great so far, right up until Windows 11 installed KB5079473 automatically.

Right after it installed, upon restart, my instance in Duo no longer activates/starts Sunshine.
Looking within the duo manager, you can see it shows "Sunshine isn't running".

And yet, despite it saying this, when I switch over to that windows user account, its running in the tray just fine.

After uninstalling the update from windows update (see below) the issue is resolved.

Right after uninstalling the update and rebooting (with no other changes) Sunshine within the Duo instance immediately starts working again

#452 shows an issue with KB5077241 breaking Duo.

I personally have KB5077241 installed on my Windows 11 machine, and duo works just fine.

My Duo instance breaks when installing KB5079473, so its definitely not an exact duplicate issue. Maybe something similar is happening behind the scenes that I do not know of?
But KB5079473 is not mentioned anywhere in Issue #452

Yep Confirmed the update KB5079473 broke DuoStream
You can fix duo uninstalling the update with
cmd : wusa /uninstall /kb:5079473

And if you get an error during uninstall of that patch, disable windows sandbox, uninstall the update, then you can reenable it if you need.

Yes its so easy to pause updates

1. Open windows update
2. Click pause updates

it's definitely not the same issue although updates are a strong suspect, because my issue started 3 weeks ago, and KB5079473 was only installed yesterday on my PC

any way to force uninstalling that update since it gives an error while trying to uninstall it? the error i'm getting is 0x800f0926 ,, apparently this means that i don't have enough disk space (500gb free on C:) .. while uninstalling an update.. makes no sense

I also confirm this issue, uninstalling the update fixed the issue!

I have neither of those updates and Sunshine still won't open. I have it working no problem on a different system.

I tried installing for the first time last night with no luck. Hoping this is the issue and there will be a fix soon. I love this concept and am already a patreon member.
