Elog
The control box (EM2 and newer) support Ecottrust Canada's eVTR compliant Elog software. These instructions assume the Elog is installed on your box already. If not, please contact Ecotrust Canada for assistance.
There are 2 parameters required in /etc/em.conf which specify the Elog username and password.
vtr_username=<6 DIGIT VESSEL PERMIT>
vtr_password=<NOAA PROVIDED ELOG PASSWORD FOR FISHERMAN>
The vtr_username parameter should be the same as the "vrn", and should be a 6 digit numeric "vessel permit number". The vtr_password is a password provided to the fisherman by NOAA. This allows the fisherman to use the app, and to submit data to NOAA on his own, or through the service provider.
You must reboot the system after setting these parameters.
See the MS Word Documentation prepared for this purpose. The Elog software isn't open source and so the instructions are not provided on GitHub. Ask Ecotrust Canada.
In the Elog UI, trip page, use the dropdown to export or submit the Elog data. If exporting on a control box, a FAT32 USB drive will be detected and the Elog will be saved there. Note: some new USB drives may be other formats (hfs, xfat) by default. The easiest way to be sure is to put it into a windows computer, and go My Computer -> right click -> format and choose FAT32.
The Elog is also saved to the data drive and uploaded to the elog server for review and submission as part of the analysis (offload) scripts.
