Scribe is a note-taking and task-management mod for Vintage Story 1.22.x. Place a Lectern, write tasks and notes, check them off, and pin important items to a persistent HUD overlay visible while you play — no need to keep the window open.
- Items — what ships with the mod
- Crafting the Lectern — ingredients and recipe
- Using the Lectern — the Read, Edit, Pinned, and Settings views
- Pinned Task HUD — the always-on task overlay
- Scribe Settings — all preferences explained
- Editor Reference — keyboard shortcuts, text mechanics, and editing behaviour
Scribe v0.1.0 is the first slice: one Lectern block, a pinned-task HUD, and Scribe Settings. Future versions are planned in two further slices:
v0.2 — Notebook & Clockmaker's Notebook (planned) A notebook item to bring your tasks with you in your inventory. Clockmaker's variant adds timers & reminders. Pairs with the Writing Desk for a full portable note system.
v0.3 — Writing Desk (planned) A private desk block that expands on the Lectern with group task-assignment. Intended for groups
v0.4 - Clay & Wax Tablets (planned) Simple handheld
The goal is a natural progression of capability through Vintage Story's natural tiers.
Scribe requires LibGUI (gui mod, version 2.0.0) as a hard dependency. Install it from the VS mod database before installing Scribe. Both mods must be present on the server and all clients in a multiplayer game. Without ripls work on this library, Scribe would look like this:
