Motivation: Having a single source-of-truth / just a single way to process / startup the system is better than having to deal with multiple ways. In addition, having a file-based transfer which is potentially less secure and definitely less performant would fit the KISS ideal more.
After some discussion we arrived at the point to actually leave it at this single way, which should be ideal in all real-world usage scenarios.
