I'll accept this (for now) but we have to keep in mind that at some point, having in in query migth trigger slowness!

querying multiple genome_uuid or species names will result in the error ValueError: (MySQLdb.OperationalError) (1241, 'Operand should contain 1 column(s)')
adding
inoperator to filter on multiple params will fix the error
