Of the eight gases in this mod, only four (50%) are visible.
- Black is CO (carbon monoxide), and is generated when gas fires burn out and when flammable coal catches on fire. It is poisonous, suffocative, and ligter than air. It decays into carbon dioxide (CO2) over time.
- Orange is a gas fire and is generated when a volitile gas explodes. It sets you on fire (obviously), is lighter than air, and decays into carbon monoxide (CO) over time.
- Yellow is H2S (hydrogen sulfide), and is poisonous and heavier than air and has a volatility of 100. It generates naturally.
- Red is NUKE, and is heavier than air and has a volatility of 1000, making it ten times as explosive as hydrogen sulfide (H2S). It is only known to spawn when placed by a player in Creative Mode.
All invisible gases are heavier than air.
- CO2 (carbon dioxide) suffocates.
- SO2 (sulfur dioxide) poisons and suffocates.
- CH4 (methane) has a volatility of 15, and can generate when coal ore is mined.
- NO2 (nitrogen dioxide) doesn't have any known effects...
Wearing a respirator will make you immune to poisonous and suffocating gases, and keeps your oxygen level at 99-100% while it is worn. You will need to change the air filters occasionally, though. To do this, simply put the respirator in a crafting window (the 2x2 one in your inventory is fine) with an air filter.
Carrying a Davy lamp in your hotbar (or placing it) will determine what kind of gas is around it.
- If the flame goes out, it is suffocating (so put on a respirator). If the flame goes out, you will need to relight the Davy lamp by placing it in a crafting grid (the 2x2 one in your inventory is fine) with a torch or a flint and steel (but don't relight it in the same place, or it'll go out again).
- If the flame increases in size and turns blue, it is explosive (so don't place torches or lava or start any fires).
